New...minus old...over old.
That's how you calculate the rate of growth of...whatever.
So...let's say a coffee cup maker who prints swear words on the mugs did $10 million in sales this year. It did $8 million last year. What's its growth rate? NMOO: New is the $10 million. Old is the $8 million. It gets you $2 million. It goes in the numerator. And the Old is $10 million, which goes in the denominator. So you have 2 over 10, or 20 percent.
