Think trademarks on cartoon characters, patents on drug formulae, or a land deed in “Palestine.”

Shlomo wrote the code for a virtual reality video game and invited both of his friends over to play it in his parent’s basement (because, y’know, the lighting and acoustics are better there). After enjoying the game, his friend, Josh, who is a lawyer, encouraged Shlomo to get a copyright on the game to protect his incorporeal rights, in case a big video game maker ever saw the game.
