Land Rehabilitation

“Land rehabilitation” is exactly what it sounds like: we’re rehabbing a piece of land. More specifically, we’re trying to bring it back to its original natural glory after it’s been disturbed or otherwise messed with, either due to manmade interference (like drilling for oil or clearing a forest for lumber) or due to a natural disaster, like a flood or hurricane. Picture Rehab Addict’s Nicole Curtis, but for land instead of old houses.
Large-scale land rehabilitation usually isn’t taken on by just some random individual with a shovel and some potted plants. It involves specialists, like geologists, engineers, environmental scientists, etc.
Why? Because we’re not just trying to clear a plot of land here or plant a vegetable garden. Depending on what’s happened to it, we might have to clean up toxic waste or demolish existing structures. We might have to reintroduce flora and fauna to the property if it’s been decimated by something like fire or volcanic ash. We might even have to improve the soil in an effort to get things to grow. And sometimes, those sorts of things...require you to bring in the experts.
