Mini-Lot

Categories: Trading

We’ve always thought currency trading sounded like a blast, but we figured it was way too expensive to get into. After all, a standard lot in the world of currency trades is 100,000 units. That’s $100,000 if we’re talking U.S. dollars, and that’s a lot of coin. Definitely more than we have just sitting around.

Luckily, mini-lots exist. A “mini-lot” is one-tenth the size of a standard lot, so in U.S. dollar speak, that’s $10,000. Still a lot of coin, but definitely a more manageable investment amount than $100K.

Mini-lots are great for investors who are looking to get into currency trading, but aren’t just hangin’ out being independently wealthy. Also great if we want to test a trading strategy—it’s a lot less gut-wrenching to “test” $10,000 than $100,000—or if we’re looking to incrementally increase our investment amount without breaking the bank.
