Nickel
Categories: Tech
Nickel used to be a broadly used metal element in industry. It plated things so that they wouldn't rust. It's pretty malleable and sturdy. It was also easy to smelt into the shape of a coin.
When the nickel (with the buffalo on it) first came out, its value was basically contained in the coin. Like...you could have melted it down for its same value as a metal. In its current, electronic form as bits of data, uh...not so much.
