The bid is the first part of the process, and many takeouts are hotly contested, with dozens of bids along the way. The "winner" will have paid a highly inspected premium price for that takeover, i.e., they will have suffered The Winner's Curse and will have paid a special price (i.e. full price) for whatever the target was.
Now their big challenge is to make that prize run a whole lot better, so that it is, in fact, worth the big price they paid.

snarfing up shares of inky, inky buys shares of blinky sort of turning the
tables you know like this and while you're gobbling up that competition and [Pacman gobbling competition]
don't forget to eat a bunch of cherries or a strawberry every once in a while
because you know you still need your fruits and veggies
