Year To Date - YTD
Categories: Metrics, Accounting
Year to date, or YTD, as the cool kids say, is the timeframe from the first day of the fiscal year (usually the same as the calendar year, but not always) to the current date.
Basically, it helps businesses say “how are we doing so far this year?” To help answer that question, they can look at the YTD from last year, and compare it to the YTD this year.
For instance, if it’s halfway through the year, you can look at last year’s performance at the halfway point to see if the business is doing the same, better, or worse.
Not only companies use YTD. Investors...and even soccer moms...use YTD. Choosy moms choose YTD.
