- Lao poisons Indy, and a struggle for the antidote ensues in a Shanghai nightclub.
- In the commotion, Indy grabs nightclub singer Willie Scott and the two jump from a window.
- They make a quick getaway in a car driven by Indy's child-labor companion, Short Round.
