Son of Parody

Young Frankenstein tells a fairly straightforward story. No exploring what it means to be alive through weird narrative jumps or anything like that. Young Frankenstein simply borrows a lot of its plot elements from its forefathers: Frankenstein (1931), obviously; Bride of Frankenstein (1935), with Madeline Kahn's groovy hairstyle at the end of the movie; and Son of Frankenstein (1939), or in this case, more like grandson of Frankenstein. By combining elements from all three films and adding a healthy dash of humor, it becomes its own creation.
