Physical Danger

Physical Danger

Um, hand cramps? Seriously though, you're sitting in a chair typing for eight hours a day; the immediate dangers are few and far between. Sure, maybe if you're a court stenographer and the serial killer on trial decides to go for broke and get that one last victim, but even then you've got well-trained officers guarding the room, so you should be fine (we hope).

Long term, the hand cramps thing might actually come back to bite you. It doesn't seem like a big deal to you now, but after forty years of hard labor at the keys, arthritic joints in your fingers can become a major pain-in-the-hands. Carpal tunnel is also a risk, so make sure to keep those wrists and joints loose and limber.
